Welcome to Norwood, the jewel of the Empire of the Land of Kings and Emperors. We hope that you have a pleasant time here, whether you are just visiting or if you hope to settle down here.
For security reasons, it is necessary that you register to view our forums, but this introduction will hopefully give new members a succinct and informative overview of the region. Upon registering, the leaders of nations in the region will be able to apply for citizenship and diplomats from other regions for accreditation.
I'm John Spencer-Talleyrand, and I have the honour of being the Viceroy of the great region of Norwood. As you will discover, the region has a long, rich and occasionally turbulent history to it. However at present I wish to give a brief introduction to the government of the region.
The region itself is a constitutional monarchy, with King Theoden as the Head of State, and a Prime Minister as the Head of Government. Between them they decide the direction that Norwood should take. However, since King Theoden is also Emperor of the Land of Kings and Emperors, he entrusts the governance of Norwood to a Viceroy, who exercises the King’s powers on his behalf. Consequently, the Prime Minister discusses policy and ways to implement it with the Viceroy. The Prime Minister is appointed after a General Election fought between the competing candidates.
The current legislature of Norwood is the Cortes, a unicameral legislature.
Anyone in Norwood can rise up to become Prime Minister or a senior figure in the Cortes, and we have a history of people who rise up to powerful positions very quickly indeed.
But let's not get technical at this juncture! I shall not complicate matters further at this stage, but merely repeat that it is great to see you here, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask any member of the Government, or indeed any citizen in general, I have no doubt they will be more than happy to help you.
But the region is not just about government, there are no end of non-governmental activities if that route appeals more than regional politics, and the most important thing is that you enjoy yourself!
